To celebrate Black History Month, we not only wanted to share stories of amazing Black women in our community but also offer our platform as a way for you to learn how you can support them, too! Meet DeAndrea Rayner of Indy Community Pantry.

They’re a local nonprofit that work hard to help people living in Indianapolis food deserts have easier access to free food in their community fridges!

When did you become established?

August 2020

Sometimes, getting started is the hardest part. What helped kick it off for you?

The need for it! Everybody should be able to get food. It’s essential.

How are you celebrating BHM?

I celebrate it everyday, by buying black and supporting those that look like me!

How can BBN and our audience support YOU in your future endeavors and work in the community?

We have 3 community fridges located at CAFE Post Road- 8902 E. 38th St. Pentecostal Temple COGIC 3009 Forest Manor Ave CMBC Indy 1001 Eugene St. that always need help to be stocked.

We also accept monetary donations through CashApp, PayPal, Venmo $indycommunitypantry
