Celebrate BHM with Us! Learn how we can all support the Indianapolis-Based organization: Girls Are L.I.T.

Girls Are L.I.T.

To celebrate Black History Month, we not only wanted to share stories of amazing Black women in our community but also offer our platform as a way for you to learn how you can support them, too!

Business / Organization Mission:

Girls Are Leaders In Technology (aka Girls Are L.I.T.): We promote the learning of leadership and technology skills to girls and women in order to make a great impact in the world of STEM!

When did you become established?

2021

Sometimes, getting started is the hardest part. What helped kick it off for you?

What helped me to start was knowing that I was leaving the classroom, but I still wanted to be able to educate girls in STEM.

How are you celebrating BHM?

I am celebrating by representing my sorority Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Incorporated at the Black Heritage Celebration at Fisher HS. I love supporting and attending every year. I will also be attending the Art and Soul Festival in downtown Indy! Be on the lookout for Girls Are L.I.T. events in March.

How can BBN and our audience support YOU in your future endeavors and work in the community?

Nominating girls to have a LIT girl spotlight for March! I would love to have donations to be able to host more events and have more swag for the girls who participate. I would also love volunteers who wish to inspire and mentor girls who would like to explore and grow in the tech field, for panels and other events.
